Ken Barnes, 47, set out alone from Long Beach on Oct. 28, headed for Cape Horn, the southernmost point of South America, according to his Web site. The waters off the cape, known as the roaring 50s, are renowned for being rough. Seeking to circumnavigate the planet by himself in his 44-foot ketch named Privateer, Barnes ran into rough weather on New Year’s Day about 500 miles off the coast. He used a satellite telephone to call his girlfriend in Newport Beach about 5 a.m. Wednesday. I didnt want him to go,” Cathy Chambers told the Los Angeles Times. “But he has had this dream for 15 years.”The PrivateerA signal from Barnes emergency position indicating radio beacon, or EPIRB, was later received, and U.S. Coast Guard and Chilean authorities started rescue operations. A Chilean aircraft was expected to home in on the beacon Wednesday afternoon and contact Barnes. The aircraft would also drop survival gear — life rafts or survival suits — if needed. The nearest vessel, about 150 miles away, was motoring toward the site and was expected to reach Barnes within about 24 hours. A cargo vessel also was en route and expected to arrive about the same time. Chambers said Barnes sounded good, but then he was crying too; so he’s upset about having to leave the boat at some point. Barnes told her the boat was not sinking, just at the whimsy of the wind and waves, and he was trying to save the battery in his satellite phone to make contact with Chilean authorities. I don’t care about the boat, she told Barnes, a father of three. I just want you home.

Array The Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese, Filipino and a host of other Asian flavors congregate, eat, shop and hang out there. Since it’s an Asian store, instead of getting two choices of rice to buy, you get twenty. I’m craving animal protein and have reached my carb-limit for the day so I order a whole soy sauce chicken. I look around and take an inventory of what everybody is eating for no particular reason; it’s just what I do anytime I go out to eat. Chow mein noodles, deep-fried crab croquettes, chicken drummettes, battered, fried and covered in a smoky-smelling sauce. I, being the age that I am, and knowing what I know from the countless articles and websites I read on nutrition and food, can recite the rules (sorry, I mean guidelines) they tell you should follow for a happy, healthy life. and I eat until we’re just a little too full and I consolidate my leftovers into his Styrofoam bowl. He and I are both feeling kind of drunk from the meal and we make a pact to talk ourselves out of it next time coming to Ranch 99 sounds like a good idea.

I’m going to check on her …CF: The doc is out to check on both Fang and Jenn … David is in shock … Rich is out there to check … I can’t believe that Ragnarok would do such a thing to Jenn like that … Fang is coming to in the ring … He sees the commotion in the aisle … he goes over there … he and David have respect for one another … that’s why Briceland made the save, but at what cost? But he’s a champion now, and he’s got the opportunity of a lifetime here.CF: And here comes his tag team partner … and I use that term loosely because these two are on the opposite side of the spectrum when it comes to getting it done in the ring … Where the hell is Luni going? He’s hopped the guardrail and is headed into the stands …RR: I don’t get it … did you notice Matthews has brought his own chair with him to the ring … he’s making a promise that the JM-assacre will be performed tonight!CF: Before we get to the opposition, let’s explain the rules:#1. They’re both out … Peyton Dowdy is charging the ring … Reed covers Luni for the World Tag Titles:1!2!3Matthews pulls Dowdy out of the ring! Reed’s out and he and Wallace roll Matthews into the ring … Double whip … Double clothesline is ducked and Matthews off the far ropes with a spinning heel kick that takes Reed out! The US Champ and the World Champ are out on the floor … Luni grabs a chair from ringside and is going to go for something wild … Matthews to his feet … JM-ASSACRE ON LUNI! Matthews for the cover:1!2!3!YOUR WINNER, AND NEW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS … WAIT A MINUTE … They’re partners?CF: Payne realizes his goof, so does Matthews … RESTART THE MATCH!RR: Matthews sets up the chair … Off the ropes, off Luni, off the chair to the top rope, PLANCHA TO THE FLOOR! Matthews is going to feel that in the morning … Reed throws him into the ring … Wallace to the top rope … Reed gets Matthews on his shoulders … DOOMSDAY DEVICE! Reed for the cover:!Payne is not counting any pinfalls by Reed …CF: Look … Wallace is barking orders at Reed …RR: Reed drags Luni toward one of the corners … Wallace ascends to the top … 450 Splash onto Luni’s knees! BUT PAYNE ISN’T COUNTING IT!RR: Wallace is getting to his feet, but Reed is going completely insane … he’s won this match maybe 3 times already if Payne would just count the damn pinfall or counted the submission … Reed is in Payne’s face … talking trash … Payne shoves Reed back! Wallace shoves Reed back … right into Payne, who lifts Reed up … INVERTED DVD! Wallace can’t believe it, but now he’s the new World Heavyweight Champion …CF: Luni’s on the top rope … He leaps … LUNI SUPER DROP ON MARCUS PAYNE! He’s still tag team champion!RR: I think we better do something before more titles change hands … Foster has headed into the ring and separated the five men, most of whom are out of it … Foster has the title belts …He hands the US title to Jarred Matthews. Matthews holds it up … Jenny Rovero’s breasts some where are shaking with happiness. He hands the Tag Team belts to Luni … Luni offers one to Matthews, but Matthews tells Luni to keep it … I guess Luni needs a partner now … could it be Hellkid? And he holds up the World Title, and he hands it to Wyatt Wallace.

Clients and prospective clients invariably ask about the validity of I Opt. This Blog is meant to define the dimensions of validity in a language that anyone can understand.MOVING FROM SPECULATION TO FACTSIn final analysis, validity is an argument about whether your theory can be trusted. In the case of I Opt that subject is a theory of the behavior of groups and individuals.A theory is just a statement of what causes what. Validity is a tool we use to move up on the scale toward fact.DIMENSIONS OF VALIDITYCONTENT: This means that the components of the tool you are using (e.g., statements in the I Opt Survey) relate the theory in a meaningful way. The Net gives assurance that the I Opt tool is measuring what the theory is talking about.FACE: The respondent (e.g., person who took the I Opt Survey) agrees with the diagnostic. The I Opt validity study tested this along four dimensions and each met or exceed the academic p< .05 (less than 5% probability that the results are due to chance) standard.DISCRIMINANT: This dimension of validity assures you that things in the real world that should not relate to each other do not. I Opt met the discriminant validity test with a significance level of p< .000000000000000000000000000000000001 or that there is less than 1 chance in a gazillion that this result was due to chance. CONCURRENT: Concurrent validity says that the results (e.g., I Opt diagnosis) relate properly to other things outside of the theory being tested.

This is the next step in the de-evolution of the green movement, which used to be about ’saving the Earth for future generations’ to ‘killing future generations to save the Earth.’Congratulations Al Gore, your Church of Gaia is now officially a suicide cult.I’m willing to bet Rigellian Dolpaks to donuts that Al Gore is currently lobbying the Democrats in congress for a bill to force people to buy millions of his bogus carbon offsets or face sterilization or state mandated abortion. It’s the ultimate money maker.

They had to run the ball (which they didn’t really do), keep the ball away from the New England offense (which they did for a good deal of the first half, not so much in the second), and get pressure on Tom Brady (which they did, although not as much as I would have liked). So I’ll just mention some things based on what I’ve been seeing on the highlights.A few weeks ago, I wondered why Penn State suddenly started heaving the ball deep when they were killing Michigan State with short passes and they probably didn’t want to give the ball back to the Spartans because their defense wasn’t playing well. They probably would have scored a touchdown, but even if they had kicked a field goal, they go to overtime. If you score there, the Cheaters have three timeouts and 4 minutes. I loved the game plan that Reid had, going for it on fourth down from the New England 15 and scoring a touchdown later, using an onside kick, and working deep occasionally just to keep the defense honest. If he can almost beat the best team in the league playing like this, he could beat the hell out of lesser teams. Final score: New England 31, Philadelphia 28. Final score: Dallas 34, New Jersey 3. Chad Johnson scored for the first time since Week 2 and went to the camera and pretended to film someone. 7-0.Washington apparently had no interest in winning this game, because whenever the Buccaneers touched a Washington player, they dropped the ball! Final score: New Orleans 31, Carolina 6. They could go into New England and beat the Cheaters because they can keep the ball away from Tom Brady in the cold weather. And even prior to this, you turn the ball over too often, which is the only way an anemic offensive team like the 49ers could even be in this game late. I love that Ken Whisenhunt went for the win at the very end before settling for a tying field goal (most coaches would have kicked and not even tried), but the team commits far too many stupid penalties and turns the ball over too often. I also hope Missouri loses, not because I like Oklahoma (I don’t, in fact), but because then Ohio State will play a two-loss team in the title game. I would love for a two-loss team to play Ohio State and beat them, so the National Champion would have two losses and a team like Kansas, who didn’t even win their division of their conference, could whine about it and a team like Hawaii, who beat all the patsies on their schedule, could whine about it.

The Copper VaseSOLDIt’s been awhile since I painted in cool light. I generally use a warm incadescent light that I can dim or brighten according to the needs of the painting. But cool natural north light is always preferable. My studio sometimes makes this difficult. But today I moved things around a bit and this painting of roses in cool light emerged. I love roses, as do most people, but always find them a challenge to paint. Think I did OK here. I especially like the way the warm copper vase sets off the warm tones in the roses. The Copper Vase is painted on 16 x 20 unstretched canvas. It has a lovely 2 unpainted border around it giving it a number of framing options. See the image below. If you have any questions, feel free to e-mail me.

This is certainly not a Christian Coalition Republican district. While District 52 voters re-elected Wilkingson with 69% of the vote in 2004 and Bush won with 60% in 2004, only 54% voted yes on the anti-gay marriage amendment - faring far better than many, many solidly Democratic districts.

Array Yrinna exchanged a brief word with her and it resulted in them hiring the woods-wise young woman as a tracker (since nobody claimed to be any good at it). She remembered a set of small humanoid tracks she had seen around here somewhere a few days ago, and since the patrol expressed an interest she did her best to find them again. Hos hacked off a hind leg to feed She-Tang later (“If I feed her now she will be slow and lazy”) and Duma went to work with his dagger on its belly. Nobody could tell which way the small humanoid tracks went from here, so Yrinna defered to Duma’s judgement, who believed it more logical to initially head north, toward the Clane river. Yrinna got to one struck down by Hos’Cha’al, but by the time she got there the ugly little brute had time to spit blood in her face with its last breath. Another mile on and Andy stopped and took Yrinna forward for a look – a clearing containing several mud and wattle huts, but no obvious signs of activity. So Yrinna ordered an advance on the huts in skirmish line formation – spread out, bows at the ready. The animal skins were thrown back to a chorus of barking and growling sounds, and a hail of spears, javelins and arrows flew from the huts, showering down among the advancing patrol. Yrinna lead the rest into the centre, her brother at her side. In the centre Yrinna and Feldar were standing back to back against the wall of a hut, trying not to get overrun. Yrinna was learning what it is like to fight in plate armour, as various impacts made percussion-instrument sounds on her metalic exterior. Hos and Brokeface were falling back now from the assault of the Ogre and gnolls on the right. She-tang made a load yelp as she was pounded into the mud, her back broken. Yrinna ran back a few feet and tried to ensnare the dangerous looking, largest gnoll with her Tymora-granted devine magic, but the gnoll just snarled at her. Just then a tall blonde human in a red robe ran out from between two huts in the melee and pointed a finger laden with fear at Yrinna. She tried to fight down the terror but was overwhelmed, and turned to flee just as she saw her brother overrun and struck down where he had stood by her side. The man staggered back into the hut and screamed “Onugharra!”, but a moment later he was dead as Hos circled, leapt through another window and struck him down from across the room. Now badly wounded, with several enemies outside the hut and the rest of the patrol falling back, Hos was close to being cut off. But the Sarg was fleeing the field, with the club-wielding, bellowing Ogre right on her heels.

came in this morning and said that in some ways Bill is doing better…he seems more alert and his lungs seem better. They are running lots of antibiotics through them and hope to kill the bacteria, but if the newest cultures come back positive, then they will have to go in and remove his catheter and maybe even his port. if the newest cultures come back clean, then they can leave it all alone.Right now he is having shaking chills.
